WHAT ARE GOOGLE CORE WEB VITALS?

Core Web Vitals are a set of metrics related to speed, responsiveness and visual stability. Google has defined these as the Core Web Vitals. For example Largest Contentful Paint, the time it takes for a page's main content to load. An ideal LCP measurement is 2.5 seconds or faster.

WHAT THEY FOR?

With the Web Vitals initiative, Google’s goal is to figure out which page experience signals have the most significant impact on UX.

HOW TO MEASURE THEM?

There are a few tools out there:1) Chrome User Experience Report
2) PageSpeed Insights
3) Search Console (Core Web Vitals report)
Largest Contentful Paint (LCP): measures loading performance. To provide a good user experience, LCP should occur within 2.5 seconds of the start of the page load.First Input Delay (FID): measures interactivity. To provide a good user experience, pages should have a first input delay of less than 100 milliseconds.Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS): measures visual stability. To provide a good user experience, pages should have a CLS of less than 0.1.

OTHER WEB VITALS?

The metrics Time to First Byte (TTFB) and First Contentful Paint (FCP) are both vital aspects of the loading experience, and are both useful in diagnosing issues with LCP (slow server response times or render-blocking resources, respectively).
